Sonicap capacitors with Mills resistors

Upgrade your capacitors from Solen or Erse to Sonicap capacitors, plus Mills resistors; offered for the tweeter and midrange, or for the complete crossover including the woofer, on the Apex III, Apex C, HT3, HT3O, HT8, HT8O and B3W.

The Sonicap will yield or exceed the performance found in the most prestigious of boutique capacitors. While capacitors suffer from more noise than most audio components, the Sonicap exhibits very low noise and parasitics. The presentation is rich in harmonics and warm, without the slightest loss of detail retrieval; the micro-dynamics of the Sonicap are unmatched in its class. Many Sonicap capacitors are needed in some speakers, due to the large capacitor values used in some models.

Pure Sonicap stack for the midrange

A pure Sonicap capacitor stack on the midrange with a Platinum by-pass capacitor. Other models differ in value, but all use stacked capacitors with a single Platinum by-pass to make up each midrange capacitor value.

Mundorf M-Cap Supreme capacitors

Upgrade your capacitors from Mundorf M-Cap (Solen) to Mundorf M-Cap Supreme, with or without Mills resistors. The M-Cap Supreme is the best capacitor we offer for our kits. The HT3i, HT8i and Apex III keep a single large M-Cap and use the Supreme on the midrange capacitor for this option.

Mundorf by-pass capacitors

M-Cap Supreme by-pass capacitors contribute to an outstanding sound performance in detail; the Supreme Silver/Oil version gives an even fuller and smoother tonal richness. In the Supreme Silver & Gold, the crystalline structure of 99.99% silver with an admixture of 1% pure gold gives, according to Mundorf, more precision combined with a sense of harmony and elegance; the Silver/Gold & Oil combines the best sonic properties of both. The 2007 M-Cap ZN brought an improved sound characteristic of advanced neutrality.

Some kits use several by-pass capacitors per pair of speakers.

Sonicap Platinum by-pass capacitors

For a kit or an assembled pair. The Sonicap Platinum represents the very finest in audio by-pass capacitors: very fast, but full and rich. The presentation is ultra smooth without loss of detail, focus or dynamics. Some of our speakers use up to 12 by-pass capacitors per pair.

Mills MR12 resistors

An upgrade from metal oxide resistors to Mills MR12 resistors.

Duelund graphite resistors

Duelund resistors are among the highest quality: 15 watt, axial lead, non-inductive, with pure silver lead-out, a phenolic tube and a pure graphite resistive element.

Crossover assembly

For those who do not feel they can assemble the crossovers, we assembled and wired them. This only leaves mounting the crossover board inside the cabinet, plus the connections to the drivers and terminals: very simple.

Bi-wire option

Complete with RAW Acoustics binding posts (solid hard copper with 24k gold-plated construction; they accept banana plugs, spades, 12 gauge wire and terminal pins) plus RAW Acoustics handcrafted jumper wires. On the kits the bi-wire option came with Audionote binding posts that accept 10 gauge wire, and bi-wire terminal plates were offered on their own.

WBT connectors

Upgrade the terminals of our speakers and kits to WBT Topline fully insulated binding posts.

QED Silver Anniversary wire

QED Silver Anniversary wire to complete the internal wiring of your speakers: quad bunches of silver-plated oxygen-free copper formed into a spiral lay, clearly visible through the shimmer pearl white low density polyethylene jacket.

OW4 Platinum dome tweeter

Replaces the RA104.5 ribbon tweeter in a speaker kit. The OW4 Hiquphon Platinum dome is also the standard tweeter of the HTO series and the TL7 O.

CNC baffles

Our custom CNC pre-machined baffles for the Apex III (two) and the Apex C (one), made from 1.25" MDF. All driver holes are cut out, the backsides rounded over and properly recessed where needed; on the Apex III the front baffle edges are rounded over as well.

CNC flat packs

Unassembled cabinets for the Apex III, the Apex C and the HT8/HT8O: all the parts are programmed in the CNC and cut for easy assembly. The Apex flat packs use 1.25" thick front baffles, the HT8 0.75"; all other pieces are 3/4" MDF. The flat packs come with all of the angles cut, the drivers flush mounted and the terminal plates machined, so even our largest 4-way speaker can be assembled with modest tools over a weekend. All you need is glue and clamps.

High gloss finish

A labour-intensive, multi-layered (10 coats!) lacquer finish, cut and hand-polished to a vivid mirror high-gloss sheen.

RAW ICE acoustic foam

1" thick RAW ICE: a simple acoustic material that does not affect the inside volume of a speaker, designed to absorb standing waves and internal reflections inside the enclosure.
